We promised that we would introduce pet friendly locations to our website and we finally have commenced this journey.
Graiguenamanagh
The first location to be featured, for a number of reasons:
It is developed around the beautiful river Barrow, which offers stunning walks along its banks for families and their pets.
If you are looking for a gentle way to spend quality time with your dog, this location seems to have great diverse landscape and water based activities.
A medieval town, steeped in history and has a number of very old buildings along the river bank including the remnants of Tinnahinch castle.
There are pubs and coffee shops that welcome your pets either to sit outside or are welcome indoors.

Pet friendly cafe
We popped in to visit Sinead, owner of Pomegranate Cafe. Sinead creates gluten friendly hand made treats that have a focus on healthy as well as being delicious. She encourages dog owners to sit outside the cafe to take a break with their pets.

Pet friendly accommodation.
The Weaver's Cottage provides pet friendly self catering accommodation in the beautiful picturesque town of Graiguenamanagh Co. Kilkenny. Mary Moylan, owner of this cottage told us that she has some pets who visit four times a year and keep coming back each year to visit and love trotting down to the local pub where both owners and their furry friend are welcomed.

Outdoor fun on the Barrow
If you want to take outdoor pursuits to a new level, Go With The Flow offers canoeing on the river Barrow at Graiguenamanagh. Charlie the owner of this business regularly takes his dog Bloom out on the water.

Charlie outlined that "pets have been accommodated on adventures from time to time. It is certainly easier to accommodate a family pet with a private group on the River. For those who want to have extended periods with their pets on the water we recommend hiring a canoe for a day or two or three and heading off down the river with your camping gear and your dog with you If I can be of any further assistance to any of your customers in the future I will be delighted to help ".
Historical landmarks.
This town is steeped in history and they even have a castle along the banks of the Barrow. So if you would like to take time to learn about Graiguenamanagh's past, there are great ruins and sculptures to provide a historical backdrop to your country vacation.
